The Week In Singles.

This week has proven to be quite a snooze for new music. So much so, that I don’t think I have my single of the week! Yes folks, it’s that bad. From Girls aloud with their new single which is something kinda…YUCK to a duet that should have never happened, but sadly for our ears it has and we will be punished EVERY TIME we hear it, this week is a disappointment. So with no single of the week insight, let’s get it started.

Us against the world?.... Yes honey, it will b with this song.

Us against the world?.... Yes honey, it will b with this song.

I think EVERYBODY remembers “Dip It Low” it was a magical moment similar to “Crazy In Love” except without the smell of desperation that only Beyonce could bring to a song. Well let’s just get it out there this song is NOTHING like that, in fact it might be her weakest song to date. If your career is in the pooper after your record company dumped you, why the hell would you release this?

She has described the song as a”cinematic power Bottom ballad” but this is more like a “cinematic crap fest”. It’s just soooooooooooo boring! I mean She doesn’t have a bad singing voice, but her voice is def not strong enough to carry a ballad. I really wish she would go back and re-group and dish out another club banger, ( like she has when she wrote “Play” for “Don’t call me J.Lo”  J.Lo) cos with this, the title couldn’t fit any better.

My Rating: 5 Minutes in a room with “Don’t call me  J.Lo” J.Lo trying to “Write” a song. (SCARY)

Please promise Not to do this A-gain!

What the hell? I  know not every single from Girls Aloud can be brilliant but what the fuck is this? I mean this song is just like EVERYTHING that is on the radio right now… it’s just so done, this “throwback” sound, some one needs to quit. The Video is just about as boring as the song, and I expect a HELLUVA lot more from these girls after their “Biology” and “Something Kinda ooooh” singles which rank as 2 of my personal favorite songs of recent times. So I must say that this song failed to get me out of my seat, or really out of bed… just one LONG snooze.

And the other thing I don’t get, if the video is all retro then why is the cover of the single all modern and glam? Ooooh these girls are tricky. I think Cheryl needs to stop X Factor and concentrate on the music cos right now.. It ain’t good.

My Rating: 5 minutes sucking on Simon Cowell’s Moobs.

Up & Away.

Up & Away.

Now let’s talk about some girls that are not making BORING throwback music, these girls are sticking to pure pop, just like we gays like it! The Saturday’s have had a hit single and they are destined to have another one with this song. Now while the song itself is nothing extremely special it is better than what most girl groups are doing. It’s quite a quirky song, and the video is a slice of pop perfection. I think these are the girls to turn to now for fun mindless pop. These girls are NOT afraid to make pop music or wear the infamous hooker shoes on the video, now these girls have some balls.  The vocals are strong and the song is quite catchy. Let’s hope these girls were not a 1 hit wonder.

My Rating: 3 gay monkeys.

Why, oh why? This is the new Bond theme and it just makes me cringe. If there were 2 people that should have NEVER recorded a song together it’s these 2. I mean I think Alicia is quite a talent and she really has made some proper choons, but  Jack White looks like your creepy friend you don’t want to leave alone to long with your little sister. The song itself is ALL OVER the place, there really is nowhere to grab it, and it sounds as though it was recorded in a bathroom. This is BAD, 4 minutes of BAD. Well what do you expect, it’s not like Bond themes are very good anyway, but still I was hoping for something a bit better.

Watch the video if you dare. Buts it is CRAP.

My Rating: 5 listens to Sheryl Crow’s Bond theme.

So there is no single of the week this week due to the fact that the music this week is quite shit. But I will do my best to find that one song that makes my cold, bitter heart warm up a degree or 2. So keep ya heads up, and keep a look out this week for Britney’s new “Womanizer” vid that will premire on Friday! I’m  Out.
