It's ALL About… The Circus Starring: Britney Spears.

Caged Minx!

Caged Minx!

Yes, I had a dream Wednesday night and in that dream I was at Britney’s concert EXTRAVAGANZA shaking my ass like a 2 dolla whore and I woke up with such an amazing sensation that I decided right then and there: I NEED TO SEE BRITNEY! I did everything in my power cos I WAS NOT gonna fork out more than £20 to see her cos let’s face it, I really hadn’t heard many positive things about the concert.

So, after some shady people that said they would sell me the tickets on Gumtree, (which they never did! Be VERY careful who you call to get tickets from!) I just headed out to the 02 and thought there would always be some poor lost soul that would be selling their ticket and that is exactly what happened. I met up with my friend, who had seen her the night before, and I got 2 tickets for 40 pounds! A bargain! The seats were pretty amazing as well, so I know it was risky, but it was MY DESTINY to see Britters, shake, shake her thang!

Strippa-hair!

Strippa-hair!

It was a pretty mixed crowd but there were a lot fewer Gays than I had thought there would be, just a whole bunch of minge, which was kinda expected. I was soo freakin’ excited and I just wanted to take my seat and wait for the show, but first I had to get boozed up! (that’s how I begin every night!) So with our cocktails in our Gay little hands we headed over to our seats.

Ciara opened the show and she pretty much nailed it. Everything from her dancing to her singing was just so on point that it kinda made me wonder why she was the opening act, but I guess she has had more hits in the U.S. than in the U.K. She did four or 5 songs and then BEGGED people to follow her on Twitter, which I found kind of strange cos let’s face it Ciara, there is a time and a place for those shanangans!

WORK!

WORK!

After Ciara, whored herself out for people to follow her, she exited the stage and left the crowd pumped and ready for……………well, not Britney. There was a 20 minute “Circus” act that was very entertaining and right then and there I started to realize one thing: Britney has surrounded herself by TOP notch performers that are A-mazing at what they do. The circus show was really incredible and was not annoying like I thought it would be when my friend told me about it.

After the Circus act, it was time for the main show and that’s when none other than Perez Hilton (dressed as a queen, or the queen , or whatever!) showed up on the huge circular screen and began screaming all sorts! It really got the crowd all riled up. I do have to say, it was pretty awesome. The screen lifted and Britney was coming down from the middle, in an spectacular ringleader outfit that was just what I had imagined it to be. She looked in control and started off with the song “Circus.” Her dancing was tight and she really did seem to be into it. Britney really is a show-woman and does give her all… sometimes.

The thing is that, you can actually tell where she is enjoying what she does more and where she’s just “going through the motions.” The “Me Against The Music” part of the show was exhilarating with the entire Bollywood-esque theme and she really did pull out some killer moves. For the ONLY ballad, “Everytime” I really thought she would attempt to sing some of it, with backing vocals OF COURSE!, but sadly she didn’t which was a let down cos she was sitting down and I think the crowd would have appreciated it if she had made the effort to do so.

Bollywood Britney!

Bollywood Britney!

All the songs she performed were quite recent and there were plenty of “Blackout” songs, EXCEPT for “Gimme More” which I found bizarre cos that is one of Britters all time classics. The one song she really was not feeling was “Baby… One More Time” and it was more than obvious cos she pretty much just walked around the stage and that was it. I can also understand why, but honey if you’re not feeling it then just don’t do it!

Classics such as “Stronger” and even “Oops. I did it Again” were left out which could have replaced “Baby…” The highlight of the evening was ” I’m a Slave 4 You.” Not only was the dancing EXACTLY like it was on her video but the remix of the song sent me bonkers and I’m still looking for that remix! It was just utterly BRILLIANT. there was fire, there was lifting,  just about every trick in the book!

She ended with “Womanizer” which felt a bit kind rushed and hurried. She said “Goodnight, London” and literally ran off stage. That was disappointing cos, even though I wasn’t expecting a cup of tea and a chat, I did expect a bit more interaction with the crowd. She said “Good Evening” and “Goodnight” and that was it!  Still, what amazes me most is that even though she said very little she still managed to have the audience at her feet, which I found strange and funny really. It’s just proof that there is something about her that goes beyond the singing and the dancing. It’s  her persona and what she means to each an everyone of us that keeps us interested in what she does or doesn’t do.

Say what you will about Britney, but she has this “thing” about her that people will always want to see no matter what. Sometimes, it’s good and sometimes, not so much but whatever she does we will always be watching and will be left with wanting more.  It was a Grade A show with a Grade B Britney.

Wow, that’s not what I was expecting, it sound much better than I guess a lot of us would have thought after recent reports.

I’m glad you had a good time and that Brit has still got a little bit of that xtra special thang going on. x

Yes, I was really skeptical, but there were some “meh” moments but in general it was more than what I had expected.
