A pretty great week for music this week as Pop is in full force on the U.K charts with the top 10 being mostly pop singles. So all in all hurray for Pop, now just cos it’s Pop don’t mean it’s all good, so let’s get it started.
As much as I wanted to loathe Jordin Sparks new single “Battlefield,” I have to say that it’s not that bad. The song has a much edgier sound than ANYTHING on her bubble-gum debut album. This new sound is a welcome change from all the crap she released before.
While the song is a step in a new direction I’m afraid that Jordin herself is still as annoying as ever in her video. I really can’t stand the girl, she tried to change her image a bit but the goodie-goodie in her is still shining stronger than ever.
Hopefully this single is an indication of what her 2nd album will sound like, sadly I just really can’t stomach this girl so I doubt she’ll be on my pod anytime soon, but if you like a more mature Jordin then this will def be something you’ll wanna hear.
My Rating: 2 and a half stiff cocks.
Pixie Lott burst out of nowhere to claim the no.1 spot here in the U.K last week with her debut single “Mama Do.” The song is very promising and I can’t wait to hear what else Pixie has got for her debut album.
‘Mama Do” is a perfect summer song with a killer chorus and a a nice mix of soul and electro. I think that the song has also been successful due to the fact that Pixie herself is what straight guys and lezbo’s would consider “hot.”
The video showcases Miss. Lott in all her glory. I like the video and the sex-kitten vibe she has going on really works for her without looking desperate and tacky. All in all a great debut video from this new artist.
My Rating: 4 erect man nipples.
The Veronicas have been around for quite a bit, but it’s this single “Untouched” that has really given them their first world-wide hit.
This song is old in pop terms debuting in the U.S last year but here in the U.K it just started receiving heavy airplay in May which made the song debut at no.8 on the U.K singles chart.
I LOVE their sound. It’s a mix of goth, electro and pop music. This song has all those elements and very hot lyrics. I also like the way that they are loud and brash without sounding bratty and annoying. That is something very hard to pull off!
The video is a mix of glamour and creepy shots of the girls looking deliciously gothic. I really , really like the video!
My rating: 4 football hotties in jockstraps.
Single Of The Week:
The Perry Twins are Dj’s that are now branching out to producing and this is their first production with the ever FAB Niki Haris. “Bad, Bad Boy” is currently the no.1 dance song in the U.S and it is set to take over the U.K dance-floors this summer as well.
The song is a CLASSIC dance jam that has a very strong 70′s disco vibe, yet it doesn’t sound dated or retro. This song is right up there with the other summer jam of 09 David Guetta’s “When Love Takes Over.” It’s also really nice to see Niki Haris back on the music scene and her voice has never sounded so strong and powerful. This is the kind of music she should stick to and make ALL us Gays happy!
