Mimi: "The Actress"
Oh Mimi, is at it again! The Queen of Karaoke remakes has just released a cover version for Foreigner’s 80′s sapp-tastic hit “I Want To Know What Love Is.” Mimi is no stranger to covering songs, some of her BIGGEST hits like “Without You,” “I’ll Be There,” and “Against All Odds” have all been covers.
After “Obsessed” failed to set the charts on fire Mimi decided to go back to what people know her best for: Sappy, overwrought, ballads. The song really is quite a snooze fest, that is until the last 50 seconds where Mimi unleashes her wailing and kills several dogs along the way. There are some sounds that are best left unheard and her high note at the very end is a bit over-kill. But then again nobody does it better.
I’m on the fence, I’m not sure we need another cover version of anything at the moment, cos it just gives all those X-factor, American Idol, contestants yet another song to butcher. But judge for urself and see if you can stomach Mimi’s funk.
