The Saturdays have established themselves as the girl group of the moment. They are sticking with each other for another (2nd) album, “Wordshaker.”
The album kicks off with a BANG with the mega-hit “Forever Is Over.” This song really does sound like the girls know what they are doing and the vocals are very strong.(at least on the CD, live, well… that’s another story.) Then come the slower songs, the good thing about them is that they are quite memorable and dripping with an electro-lusciousness that carries throughout the entire album. Highlights from the first half include “Ego,” & “Here Standing.”
The second half may not be as strong but there are songs like “Open Up” and “Loose Control” that keep things on the up. Everything on here sounds fresh and exciting. The only real dud is the albums closer “2am.” The song is a bit too cute for its own good and it’s not a very good thing to end with a mid-tempo snoozer, but when you think about it, 11 out of 12 ain’t too shabby!
Miles stronger than their debut, “Wordshaker” will establish the girls as consistent hitmakers and take them all to the next level. Let’s just hope that they stick together long enough to make more music together and that they can get their shit together when the sing live.
My Rating: 3 juicy cocks.
