Working as a freelance writer for Magazines doesn’t quite pay all the bills so I decided that I get another job in order to expand my experience in the work field and put some comida on the mesa! A modern Gay has got to do it all!
A couple of weeks ago I went on a job interview for a job I really wanted. I got there EXACTLY on time and I looked and felt very confident. The interview went well, so well that in the middle of it, I actually envisioned myself working in the office and I pretty much thought I had it in the bag. The guys that interviewed me were nice and friendly and seemed genuinely interested in what I could bring to their company. The job was pretty much tailor made for me.
I left their offices, happy and I also felt that I had come across a great opportunity to further my career to that next level. When I got home, I was surprised to find that I had received and e-mail from the guys that interviewed me, basically telling me that it was “great to meet you, we have a couple more people to interview and we’ll get back to you beginning of next week.”
Good, the job is mine for the taking! I thought, well, not exactly. The beginning of the week (Monday) rolled around, nothing. O.k I thought maybe Tuesday. Nothing. Then I started to get annoyed, I mean surely they would let me know if I did or didn’t get the job. I decided to send them an e-mail just to ask if they had made any decisions regarding the job and I got an e-mail back telling me not to fear they would let me know by the end of the work day Wednesday. So I waited till the next day and of course, NADA. A week later and of course, NADA!
Now what pisses me off about the entire situation is the fact that they didn’t have the balls to let me know that I didn’t get the job. I mean don’t I deserve that much? A thanks, but no thanks would have been fine by me but telling me one thing and then not following up? I think this is very unprofessional and yes, I am slightly bitter I didn’t get the job but I’m more pissed off that they just didn’t call!
In general, I think you should always be told the truth NO MATTER WHAT. In a job environment this is especially important. Looking back and analyzing this, I’ve come to the conclusion that if this, is any indication on how the treat their staff, maybe it wasn’t such a bad thing that they never called.

My feelings exactly. Interviewers are generally on their best behaviour when meeting potential employees as well. You only see the crap once you’re officially on the payrole. This was extremely sloppy of them. As long as you are happy with the way you conducted yourself then consider this a bullet dodged and a personal triumph.
You forgot to blow them didn’t you.

Actually if I had blown them all, I would’ve been fucking made PRESIDENT of the MUTHAFUCKIN’ company! (Yes, Honey I’m that skilled!)
I so wanted to name and shame but I figure I have more KLASS than that!
