Review Of Da Week: Cheryl Cole, “3 Words”

The Brits really love them some Cheryl Cole, no I mean really love her. So far her crap-tastic single “Fight For This Love” has been the biggest selling single of the year selling close to 500,000 copies in the U.K alone! It really just goes to show the power of television cos the song is an absolute mess but just cos she performed it on X-factor it’s probably gonna end up as THE song of the year!

After listening to the entire album all I could think was: This is it? Far from being the worst thing I’ve heard all year, this certainly isn’t what I wanted to hear from Miss.Cole. The album kicks off with the title track “3 Words” and to say this song is a bigger mess than Fergie’s piss-stained panties would be an understatement. I just think it tries to hard to be different and ends up flat. After that the entire album just plods on in a mish-mash of R&B lite crap that is just like Cheryl’s voice, not very distinctive. The only song that stands out in the middle of the mess is “Heaven” and under normal circumstances this wouldn’t be such a stand out, but here this really is the tune that takes things to a decent level and shows a light glimmer of hope.

Yes, the album is brilliantly produced and sounds as slick as anything out there at the moment but that is the BIG problem here. There really isn’t anything that makes Cheryl’s music exciting or interesting. I found her quite boring before and now with this album it just confirms that girlfriend ain’t got no soul.
