I have to disagree, I thought the video was crap, and I am probably going to get a lot of stick for this from all those Gaga gone gaga fans but just because you like her or her music doesn’t mean you have to praise and love every dump she takes.

Granted the video was good quality, well made and had some great outfits and aesthetics but lets not forget that this is a MUSIC VIDEO, not a short film. Chopping up the song like that just defies the whole purpose of the production. If you want to make short films do just that but don’t go all artsy on a music video. After all the purpose is to portray the MUSIC. All in all I found it a bit pretentious and excruciatingly slow…

Plus, whats with all the product placements? I counted at least 10 sponsoring brands, granted most of them more tastefully placed as apposed to the token mobile phone we get shoved down our throats (TWICE) and I also understand that the music industry is in a bad place finantially but can no one find a more creative and discrete way to plug their brand and finance a video? (oh and that EXCLUDES mobile phones???)

I really think Gaga missed the mark on this one and tried to make it something that it never managed to be. The first thing I thought after watching it was that it was trying to be something MJ would do but at least with him and his looooong music videos you get the bulk of the song in one piece and its not chopped up like in telephone plus to boot with MJ you get a lot of great dance sequences which is something that was also lacking in Gaga land…

Plus what is up with House of Gaga borrowing Kylies outfit? http://bit.ly/9ea3Sm

OK enough bitching, I need to get back to my miracle-whip-wonder-bread sandwich and Diet coke and listen to music on my LG phone and Heartbeats while taking Polaroid pictures of myself and finding true love on plentyoffish.com….

I do agree that the product placement has to go and it is quite annoying, but in 2010 no one can really produce a video like this without having big time sponsors.
Gaga is young and I still have to give her props for trying to take things to the next level. The video may not have been a success on every level but I do think that in terms of videos it has pushed the envelope for the load of usual shit we have been getting in 2010.
