Livin’ & Lovin’: The Eternal Romantic?

For most of us , love is something that we search for with all our might and most spend all great deal of  time wanting to meet our “other half.” Everyone tells you that there is someone out there for you and that all you have to do is just wait, work on yourself and love yourself first before you can love somebody else, then and only then will that “perfect person” come along.

Over the years I have met quite a lot of people that are in relationships that definitely do not love themselves and yet the still manage to find some one to love them for who and what they are at the moment. This has led me to believe that no matter how low or high your self esteem is, you could be alone or you could have someone by your side. I really don’t think it has to do with all this “love yourself first before you can love someone else” thing. For me it’s more destiny, either you are destined to be with someone (or various people)  and your life choices lead you to that or they just don’t. It’s as simple as that.

I hate it when people over dramatize fate/destiny. I think it’s important to keep your feet firmly planted on the ground and not let your feelings get too carried away by all this “he’s the one, I’m meant to spend the rest of my life with…” Think about it. The rest of your life could be a really long time and a lot of things can change during a year, a month, a day, hell, even an  hour!

When it comes to love, I think it’s important to be hopeful without getting too involved with what everyone says about it. Live and love the way you think is best for you, leave those cliche’s behind and when you start living by your rules, things will simply fall into place and if they don’t you can always count on a little thing called destiny to lend a helping hand.
