Livin’ & Lovin’: Drama-Queen!

One of the problems of having more than one job is the fact that you also have more than one boss and it just makes things even more complicated when when of those is useless at his job!

Last week was a really tough week for me work-wise cos one of my bosses is a complete and total dumb-fuck. He thinks that the people he has working for him are stupid and that we don’t listen or remember what he says. I have tried to keep my cool and I have also tried to blow it off and not stir things up.

Last week we had a staff meeting (A.K.A time for him to just rant about what he needs to do) and I almost had a go and told him a few truths but then I figured: What’s the point? He is obviously not going to change his view on how he sees certain things so why should I even bother in trying to explain myself or give my opinion on how to make things better at work. So far we have had 2 staff meetings and both times I have left pissed off.

In my mind, I think I have handled the situation pretty well cos I have not lost my cool and I also have not told him to shove his fucking job up his fucking ass, but there has got to be some sort of half way point between getting your point across and telling him off for being such a wet pussy. I spoke to a therapist friend and he gave me a couple of tips on how to manage when you feel like you are going to loose it and explode!

He said that one of the most important things when you feel you might over-react is to pause and think about the consequences of exploding in rage, then choose how to respond. Delaying a reaction can make the difference between blowing your top and dealing with the situation calmly and constructively. But I asked how the fuck do you do that?

He said, to imagine the calmest person you know talking to you and giving you advice. Take yourself out of the situation that made you angry, get up and get a drink of water, and if you have the time go for a walk, listen to some soothing music, write your feelings down or finally offload on a friend will help you get perspective.

I do find that talking things out with a friend does help the situation. So, next time I find myself dealing with this idiot, (which will probably be at the next “staff meeting”) I will take his advice and see if this works, for now I am actively looking for another job!
