Judge 4 Urself: Kelly Rowland, “Grown Woman,” Blast It Or Trash It?

Kelly Rowland is on a serious mission: World Domination. Yes, Mrs.Kelly wants to big a HUGE star in her own right so she and her team have released 3 singles this Summer. “Commander” for Europe (cos Europe LOVES gay dance tunes) “Grown Woman” for Urban radio in the U.S (cos you need to sing “ass” and threaten to beat someone up to get played on “urban” radio stations) and finally “Rose Colored Glasses” for Pop radio in the U.S. (cos Pop stations usually play crap anyway) which I featured yesterday.

Today, we have “Grown Woman” and I have to say the song is quite sassy and Kelly sings the shit out of the tune but it seems a bit bland. I like it but I think she could have picked up the pace for this track. I guess I have to say I prefer “Dance Kelly” to “Ghetto Queen Kelly.”  The other thing that I must say is that the cover is sizzlingly fierce! I mean don’t even get me started on that hair!!  The single cover is amazin’ now if only the same could be said about the song….

Have a listen to this track and judge 4 urself.

“cos you need to sing “ass” and threaten to beat someone up to get played on “urban” radio stations”

    What’s THAT supposed to mean?

Anyway, Kelly and her team knows that those erratic dance tracks that have the potential for Europe/UK airplay will be completely rejected by US/urban radio, because urban music listeners don’t go for songs with 100 bpm. She’s attempting to play her cards right. Some things aren’t universal.

That means that you gotta be all thug an aggressive to played on urban radio stations two things Kelly Rowland is not.
Even though it might get some airplay in the US, as far as I know this song hasn’t been setting the charts on fire. 100BMP or not it still doesn’t hide the fact that the song is just a bit shit.
