I have been wanting to do this for a long time. I love music and everything about it, the fashion, the glamor, the demands and the attitude, wait.. especially the attitude. Most of you know by now that when female singers start to make demands they are branded “DIVAS” and while some think that is a negative word I think it’s quite the opposite. BUT you gotta have talent to back it up and there is a HUGE difference between being a DIVA and being a flat out BITCH!
So, this week I will be taking a look a my favorite DIVAS and I will feature them at their dance-club best. Today I wanted to start with a diva that probably has one of the most famous faces ever: Diana Ross.
Back in 1999 Diana Ross tried to make a comeback of sorts with the movie “Double Platinum” with Brandy which was a complete and total dud, around the same time she released “Everyday Is A New Day.” While that album failed to kick-start anything for Ross, it did contain a dance-floor gem “Not Over You Yet” which was a top 10 hit in the UK. This mega choon stormed most dance charts it entered and it’s not hard to see why. It’s probably Diana at her most loose and free in a club track.
The other reason to LUV this song is the video which features MZ.Ross in some sort of dance-club garage getting her “oil checked” by hunky dancing menz! For me I think that is the only way to get you car serviced! Of course the video is ALL ABOUT THE HAIR! I can imagine this has inspired soooo many drag queens to get that fro’ out and just be fabulous! But to be honest I have always thought Diana Ross is a a sashay away from Tranny-Ville.
