Yes, the week would not be complete without the MEGA-DIVA (but most of the times just a bitch) Mimi. She has made some pretty outrageous demands over her career, from humidifiers in the room to getting people to hold her umbrella, water bottle and how could we forget, her straw. This one has pretty much made all the crazy demands under the sun. Yet through it all we still love the crazy ol’cow!
Mimi and the dance-floor go way back. Every time she put out a single more often than not it would be accompanied by at least half a dozen remixes and of course, clubs everywhere pumpin’ to Mimi and da beat! Back in the early days Mimi would work with Clivilles & Cole (C+C Music Factory) but in 1993 for her massive single “Dreamlover” she let David Morales remix the tune and he turned it into a 10 min dance-floor extravaganza that was quite rare for the early 90′s. This remix is epic in every way and deffo a career high for both Mimi and David Morales.
Mimi re-recorded her vocals for this remix and they sound utterly brilliant. This show’s Carey’s commitment to dance music early on in her career when it was not common for artists to release and push remixes of their singles. It was Mimi’s secret to her success, her passion for music and drive to get it out there in as many formats as possible to establish herself a multi-format superstar with no boundaries. You go gurl!
Have a listen! This is a total classic dance-floor jam!
