When the movie “Showgirls” came out in 1995 ho-bags around the world could finally breathe easy. I was one of those ho-bags that fell in love with Nomi Malone and her “struggle” from stripper to Vegas showgirl, (hmm… aren’t they the same thing?)
EVERYTHING about this movie just screams “Classic Fag Movie”. From the name of the topless bar (Cheetah’s Topless Club) to Gina Gershon’s twisted-lezbo meanie, “Cristal Connors”, this flick just holds a special place in my hooker-ish heart. I so wanted to runaway and BE Nomi! I also wanted to be part of the backstabbing, pussy-thrusting, Vegas EXTRAVAGANZA known as “Goddess”! I so would have kicked some ass!
There were SOOOO MANY classic lines in the movie but none more classic (or klassier) than this:
“You really are a whore!” reminds me of something my mother would say to me.
I really don’t know why this movie flopped when it came out cos I must have gone to the theatre at least 20 times with my possee of Gays! NO ONE has ever managed to capture the true essence of an all-out whoretote mess like Elizabeth Berkley. She should have won an Oscar just for this:
I leave you now with one of my favorite scenes. Nomi “learning” her first dance routine. I love the way she starts off dancing as though she is slightly drunk and retarded, then after some scolding from the bitchy lil’ fag, Nomi’s inner hussy takes over and she dances as though her vagina were on fire! I also LOVE the fact that the main dance bitch’s name is GAY! Gotta Love it!
