SHOOTMEUP.CO.UK has established itself as the ones to go to for gorgeously sexy pictures of hunky men wearing next to nothing, so it was only natural that they decide to open up their own shop selling exclusive prints of their fabulous work they have done over the years.
I caught up with photographer and artistic director for SHOOTMEUP.CO.UK, David Hart, sat him down and asked some all important questions on what sets his photography apart from the rest and what deee-licious goodies we can expect from his newly opened e-shop!
Aamyko: Is the timing right to open up an e-shop? Is there something you can bring to the table that other photographers aren’t bringing?
David: I am starting to build up a really great collection of images of some of the hottest guys in London right now… so I thought why not?! The shop was really just the next step in my plans for SHOOTMEUP! What I think sets my work apart from other photographers is the unique blend of portraiture, pop art, male physique and pin-up. Each model inspires a different idea and theme, whether it’s in the styling and set up or just simply the lighting… All resulting in iconic imagery.
A: All of your models are simply stunning! What are some things you look for in a model and what makes a good one?
D: When looking for potential models, of course good looks combined with a great body are an obvious must, but for me its all about the eyes, they need to have a sparkle in the eyes… there is nothing worse for a photographer than to shoot a model with expressionless, dead in the eyes! Also the personality really helps, it’s fun to work with a guy who is willing to give everything he has, trusting that I will bring out the best in him and god forbid never make him look ugly!
A: O.k, so now that people can buy your prints of these hunky dudes, explain to me why they would want to buy them.
D: SHOOTMEUPSHOP offers two ranges of artwork. We have the HOTSHOTS and the EXCLUSIVE range. In both ranges we showcase high quality artwork printed on specially selected photographic paper and with the highest standards by well known London printers.
Our Hotshots range is more affordable and is available in 4 sizes while our EXCLUSIVE range is a choice of collectible limited edition prints available in 3 sizes signed and numbered. Our models section features all SHOOTMEUP boys that have taken part in our photo shoots and is full of sexy ICONIC imagery … Most of our images are available on the shop. However, if you like a particular SHOOTMEUP image that does not feature on our shop, contact us and we will sort something out for you.
A: I really like the quality of your work, it seems as though you always work with and get the best. Now, how has your work evolved over the years and where do you see it going? Can we all expect global domination?
D: I started back in 2007 doing photo reviews for QX Magazine, covering events at all of the major nightclubs across the London gay scene. This inspired me to start SHOOTMEUP, a website where the clubbers could come and download their hot party images… The feedback about my club photography was so good that I decided that I should take photography more seriously, setting up a studio at my place which is perfect for my intimate portrait shoots with the models. Photography , like many other fields, isn’t really something you can be taught, you just learn from practice and you see a constant evolution in your work without really being able to pinpoint exactly what it is!
Global domination?? ha! Well, that isn’t really the way I think… I just like to keep going as I am, making the best out of each project I work on and see where life takes me. Though having said that, my business partner L.A thinks in the opposite way, with big ideas in the pipelines for SHOOTMEUP!
Oh and actually we have something great in store for 2012, but its top secret at the moment. So in answer to your question about world domination…
