Kelly's Snooze Of An Album
Oh Kelly, It seems as though now was the right time for you to release an album full of all-out-dance-tastic drama and we got this? “Here I Am” is Kelly Rowland’s 3rd album and it took her fucking ages to get it out! The album falls somewhere between middle of the road R&B mish-mash and perfectly polished dance-pop.
If the album had more of the perfectly polished dance pop it would probably be a triumphant return for Ms.Rowland but sadly for us, the standard edition of the album has one bland R&B, mid-tempo snooze fest after another. Starting off the the annoyingly auto-tunned to hell “I’m that Chick” to her most recent hit (and only good slow jam on here) “Motivation,” the album seems to drag on that is until the end.
The final 2 songs, the dance-floor thrusting “Commander” and “Down For Whatever” are more of what the album should have sounded like. Kelly’s powerful pipes are suited for big dance songs, that’s not to say that she is not good with mellow tunes but the quality of the slower jamz on here is weak and overall just boring.
The other thing that is quite annoying is that some of her amazing previous singles like “Rose Colored Glasses,” “Forever and a Day,” and “What A Feeling” are all missing, they would have helped the album loads in terms of fun. I mean tag them on as bonus tracks or something but Jesus! Don’t leave off some of your best work in years for some 2nd rate R&B crap.
Apparently, the U.K and international version of “Here I Am” will have a different track listing and some new songs all together. Hopefully, this is true and they will get rid of 7 of the 10 songs on here cos seriously it is that stinky. I so wanted to like this but Kelly, with this brand of funk I just gotta say, it ain’t gonna happen love.
My rating: 4 “cant get it up” cocks.
