Not so fired up.

O.k, The Saturdays have released their 2nd single “All Fired Up” and I totally get and like the direction these chicks are going towards. It’s a perfect evolution for them and even though their new musical direction may not be as popular, (their last single “Notorious” spent only 1 week in the top 10) it’s a good move to branch out.

“All Fired Up” is a club jam through and through, there are some awkward moments in the song with the spoken bits. It just doesn’t flow very well but it is a solid dance tune and I can totally seem myself shaking it like a whore with no morals on the stripper pole! Here is my problem: the video. It is slick, looks expensive, but sadly the same can not be said for the girls. The video is TOO MUCH for them. They don’t really look fierce when they are dancing, they look a bit bored and just not really into it. Had this video been shot by say… The Pussycat Dolls they would have turned this muthafucka on out! The Saturdays look like they are just not up to the challenge.

Girls, get your fucking act together, take some dancing lessons and learn how to fucking SMIZE even if you would rather be making commercials for Nintendo DNS! Nuff said Here’s the vid!

It’s been ages and I think it’s time to get back to my remixed-roots and pick some of the best remixes that are being played in da clubs and in the strip joints! (AKA my bedroom) Today I’m happy to bring you 3 remixes that are beyond HAWT!

O.k So when Rihanna released her “Russian Roulette” I can def say that I was not a fan. That is until I heard this remix which takes the drab original and takes it straight to the floors! It’s kinda strange listening to this with a a dance beat cos let’s face it, she ain’t singing about rainbows and sunshine! The Smoke Jumpers Edit gives the song and edgy sound that the single edit should have had.

When I heard J.Lo’s (or Lola, or “don’t call me J.Lo” or……… I GIVE UP!) new “Louboutins” I almost vomited in my mouth a little. The song is just annoying! I really was trying hard to find something positive to say about her latest poop-fest and I seriously just couldn’t that is until now. I just heard “Jeremy Word Remix” and I have to say that it’s one of J.Lo’s best remixes! The song is totally unrecognizable! THANK THE LORD!

Most people would say that The Saturday’s have flopped hard with their 2nd album “Wordshaker” but I think that it would be a real shame if this album doesn’t do as well as their debut. It’s a lot stronger and the songs are pure pop perfection. Their 2nd single “Ego” is one of the best songs on the album and of course these girls never disappoint with their remixes and this is no exception. I’m really loving the Tranny-super-hero cover art!

This week the remixes are hotter than hot. I never just write off a song anymore! If I don’t particularly like the original I always think, well, what are the remixes like? Usually I’m pretty surprised that most songs have good remixes and it just gives a new life to a shit song. Well, this week there are no shit songs just amazing remixes! Enjoy!

La-Amazing.

This is La Roux’s 2nd single and after the HUGE success of “In For The Kill” this song promises to be just as big if not bigger. I like this song a lot more than their previous effort. The original has a very 80′s feel to it, which is not a bad thing but let’s face it this song was made to be remixed and the Zinc Remix really gives it an a-mazing electro-feel that is just perfect for the clubs.

Magic.

Ciara had BIG hit with this song and while Justin Timberlake is totally annoying, he doesn’t completely ruin the song for me. I found that the original was a bit to slow and it needed a bigger beat, well fear not cos the Zeus Remix delivers a bigger beat and it really takes the song to da streets! This song was remixed for the floor.

WORK IT!

“Work” is the stand-out track form The Saturday’s debut album and it’s about as faggy as a limp wrist, which is right up my alley. I really think this deserves to be their first no.1 but sadly I don’t think it’s gonna happen cos it has taken a tad to long to actually release! I mean this song has been floating around since December 2008! And in the pop world that really is an eternity! They might just have a chance for a big hit if the remixes are great and luckily the Cahill Radio Edit remix take this song from the catwalk to the dancefloor. LOVES IT!

I have loved “Higher” for ages and I am soooo happy that it is The Saturdays 2nd single off of their “Headlines” EP. The song is brilliant, it’s pretty much their catchiest tune since “Up.” I really think that the only thing that let this down was the…. VIDEO.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s not crap or anything like that but I was expecting so much more than the girls just walking around a stage set in fucking Hollywood Studios. I think it looks cheap and messy. These chicks really are fighting the GLAM. This song called for a glamorous video, not them struting in some shity fake street. Me no likey the video but me LUV the song.

Most peeps say that The Saturdays are a cheap, tackier version of Girls Aloud. I do agree with that to some extent but it’s not because of their songs, cos  most of their singles have been solid, hair flipping, Gay anthems. (Except for “Issues.”) Where they truly need help is with their “live” performances. There is no other way to say it: they truly suck. They aren’t coordinated and they usually lip-sync. I don’t mind so much the lip-syncing but when they dance they look soo messy as though they were performing for the very first time.

After their first album “Chasing Lights” they took their time to release the follow-up “Wordshaker,” and it was not as successful. It wasn’t cos of the quality of music cos it was far superior musically than their debut. I don’t think it was a flop cos it contained “Ego,” which resulted in their biggest selling single to date. So, to call it a complete and total dud would be hasty and rude. The girls decided to re-group, re-focus and release a “mini-album” or E.P. “Headlines.” I will over-look the fact that the cover is very, very Girls Aloud-ish cos I think it was done a bit on purpose. It’s a tad tongue and cheek and they pull it off. (Hooker shoes and all!)

The stage is set for the lead single “Missing You,” to be their biggest hit to date and will prob debut top 2 in the UK charts. I wouldn’t be surprised if it took the no.1 spot. But the hot hits don’t stop there. Of course not! Their 2nd single “Higher” is probably their best track to date. It’s catchy like chlamydia with the difference this is something you’ll actually want to have ringing in your head! The fact that there are only 8 songs on the album makes it quite tight and there is almost NO filler.

I said almost! There is one song that seems tagged on and that is the 7th Heaven Remix of “One Shot” which is a great track from “WordShaker,” it’s given a nasty Euro-beat make over and it does not fit. Other than that this E.P is perfect and I really think these British chippies know what they are doing. I think this will defo put them back in the limelight, but honestly did they ever go away?

I still think not releasing “Here Standing” is a complete and total travesty cos that is The Saturdays finest moment!
