Every now and then, along comes a song that just touches my gay lil’ heart to the core and that is pretty hard cos I am one stone cold bitch. When that song does come along the only thing that I can do is just pass it on and hope that you will enjoy it as much as I have.

I have this obsession with 70′s disco, funk music at the moment that I am really diggin’! In my treasures I have found The Duncan Sisters, they had a minor hit with the 1979 camp “Boys Will Be Boys.” That song is quite amazing with it’s thumping disco beat and sassy lyrics but nothing could have prepared me for a gem on their debut album. “Rock Along With Me” is one of those romantic ballads that sound sappy as hell upon the first listen, but after various listens you realize just how amazing this jam really is.

Full of soul, passion and some of the strongest vocals ever delivered by these feisty sisters. I think this song is so summery and full of romantic hope. You don’t need me to blab on and on about it, just give it a listen and you’ll fall, just like I did.

From me to you, with love.

It’s hard not to think that EVERYTHING Diana Ross does is amazing. Not only has she been around for-ever but most of her music has a timeless feel to it that sounds as good today as when it was released. Now, that’s talent!

Today, I wanted to feature one of my favorite MZ.Ross albums which is her self titled album from 1976. This was her 2nd self titled album. The first was released in 1970 and then was re-released as “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.” This album contains some of her signature tunes such as “Theme from Mahogany (Do You Know Where You’re Going To)” and of course the disco epic-ness that is “Love Hangover” which clocks in at a gloriously wonderful 7 minutes and a half!

Call her "Miss Ross!"

That one song propelled the album into the top 10 in the US charts at a time when haters were throwing serious shade on Diana by saying her career was going the down like a dirty whore in a dark alley. Well, not in those words exactly, but still honey, shade is shade. It’s hard for the entire album to not be overshadowed by “Love Hangover” but the truth of the matter is that each track holds its own and Ross sounds breezy, relaxed but as always in complete control.

What makes this album such a solid listen is the variety in styles that Diana dabbles in. From the jazzy “Kiss Me Now” to the soulful standout “You’re Good My Child” they all have a sound that unique but what joins them all together is Ross herself and that is what a great singer does. No matter what she sings she manages to infuse each song with her own stamp.

The album closes with the Nat King Cole classic “Smile” where she ends on a positive note and it seals this as one of Diana finest moments in the 2nd half of the 70′s.

The were releasing their debut album sometime this year, but unfortunately the last thing I heard was that they broke up!! Anyway, how they ever got so much slutty heat jam-packed into 3 minutes and 45 seconds will forever be a mystery to me! Luckily for all us true, O.G, hardcore slags the video is out and i will now shut the fuck up and let the magic take place!

I may have to wait till January to hear some new choons from Hercules & Love Affair when their 2nd album, “Blue Notes,” comes out, but I just wanted to spread the word just in case some of you don’t know just how fucking brilliant they are. New York based DJ Andy Butler is the mastermind behind the group and he is one hot ginge! I had to feature a couple of pics featuring his red-hot-ginge heat! He posed for BUTT magazine and that alone makes me luv him even more! YUM!

Nomi Ruiz was the featured vocalist on most of their debut album and for me it was one of the best things to come out in 2008. There is something so retro but at the same time so “now” about their music. It’s like I can imagine listening to this in the late 70′s on a hot, hazy day in N.Y.C. Their music is pretty much disco as it should sound: ULTRA, ULTRA GAY! Tracks like “Blind” and “You Belong” are dance floor scorchers but of course it’s not all about shakin’ dat arse! Choons like “Easy” and “Time Will” have a romantic and soulful elements that show that there is depth behind this funk!

I really am looking forward to their new stuff cos if it’s anything like their debut them I will fall deeper in lusty love with them. For now I wanted to leave you with the Hercules Club Remix of “Blind.” ENJOY Gayers!
